Chinese version of Romeo & Juliet, French musical based on the play by William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet will take the stage at the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center from December 24.

The piece, which follows the original version with music and lyrics by Gerard Presgurvic, chronicles the romantic tragedy through the performances of singers A Yunga and Xu Yao.

According to its director Carl Portal, the wonderful interpretation of the Chinese actors and the sympathy of the Chinese public for the characters in the play will allow this work to “be reborn like a phoenix”.

“It has been a dream for me since I was in college that one day I could play in Romeo and Juliet. It finally came true. It’s a love story without borders, ”said A, who often watched the other three young actors to find the correct“ youthful feeling ”, as Romeo in Shakespeare’s original work is just a teenager.
